The tiger of Tasmania, a species thought to have been extinct for more than 80 years, would have been spotted in Australia!

Several eyewitnesses claim to have seen an animal that could turn out to be a Tasmanian tiger in the Cape York Peninsula in northern Australia.

The animal is supposed to have completely disappeared for more than 80 years, since the last known representative of this species died in 1936 in the zoo of Hobart! More surprisingly, this supposedly extinct species would have disappeared from the Australian continent more than 2,000 years ago, only to survive on the island of Tasmania, which would make this discovery doubly incredible …

Of course, we can not say anything yet … but the description given by at least two eyewitnesses corresponds perfectly to that of Thylacine, an animal better known as the Tasmanian tiger.

A rather intriguing fact and descriptions “sufficiently plausible and detailed” to create a small effervescence in the midst of the scientific community, and to  launch new research on the traces of this supposedly extinct species. Researchers at the Australian University of James Cook have announced that they will undertake extensive research to try to find formal evidence of the presence of Tasmanian tigers in northern Australia!

All these supposed observations of these marsupials were made at night. In one case, a group of four animals would have been seen very closely, about 6 meters apart and with a light that would make confusion with another species difficult : “The descriptions that have been made of their eyes, Size, morphology and behavior do not match those of any other species in the region with which the Tasmanian tiger could be confused, “ says one of the researchers.

This is not the first time people have claimed that they have seen tigers in Tasmania, but so far they have been seen as illuminated and ridiculed. Thus, in 2016, an Australian claimed to have taken a picture in which one could see a Tasmanian tiger in the background.

The different people who contacted the researchers to make their observations were nervous and uncomfortable, obviously fearing not to be believed and not to be taken seriously. However, as the clues gather together, scientists are increasingly taking the possibility of survival of the Tasmanian tiger in parts of the Australian continent.

So, According to researcher Sandra Abell  of  James Cook University, since the researchers’ official announcement of their intentions to launch research, it seems that this has tended to decomplex the debate and encourage people who think they have seen thylacines in the Pushing to testify.

Sandra Abell is among the group that has decided on the different zones where more than 50 “trap cameras” will be placed between April and May.

“The possibilities for us to find thylacins are still very thin ,” says the researcher, ” but it will certainly allow us to get a lot of data on the predators living in this area, and this will only be beneficial for (1)

Study of the southern fauna in general ” . The researcher remains confident, and for her, it would not be impossible for this work to lead to the confirmation of the survival of this species: ” It is after all not a mythical creature . In many descriptions given by people, it is not simply a fleeting shadow that is seen in the halo of the headlights of the car. Some people who think they have seen thylacins can really describe them in many details, and in some of these stories it is sometimes hard to imagine that it could be other things.
