Princess Leïa will be in episode IX of the Star Wars saga! Following the death of actress Carrie Fisher last December, the question arose of the presence of his character in Star Wars IX. The answer comes from the brother of the deceased, Todd Fisher, who told the New York Daily News:
[Billie Lourd, who is Carrie’s daughter, and I] said, “How do we get Carrie out of the Star Wars universe?” The answer is: “we do not get it out”. (…) I think his presence now is even more powerful than it was, like Obi Wan – he becomes more powerful once the saber has cut him. I think that’s what happened with Carrie. His legacy must endure. “
The agreement concerns the use of already existing images of the actress. And Todd Fisher adds, regarding the extent of the actress’s presence in episode IX:
“I am not the only one to decide, but I think people deserve it, it belongs to them.”
Disney and Lucasfilm had already communicated that Carrie Fisher would not be reconstituted in special effects for the needs of the Star Wars saga. A decision that had ended rumors of a digital Leïa princess at how the Great Moff Tarkin (Peter Cushing) had appeared in Rogue One.
Carrie Fisher had already shot her scenes from episode VIII, The Last Jedi, which will be released on December 13th.
